Dean and Deluca birthday cakes - are they worth?
My daughter wants a D & D cake for his birthday and I must say that would be no more expensive gift on the table! Are they worth? One hundred dollars for flour and sugar? Please tell me your experience!
I do not want to offend or be complacent .... But I am a cake decorator and there is little that is dedicated to creating a cake. Now, I've never heard of this type of cake as we speak (D & D) or exactly what size / flavor / design of your daughter wants ... but the cake May be worth only $ 100 .... Keep in mind that they can spend days working in a cake, which means they must be paid now, as anyone who works in another, I charged $ 8.00 for the time, and I am not a professional, so if one takes cake about 5 hours to cook, create and decorate and they charge $ 12 an hour of your time, thats more than half the cost of cake from there. Cake Decorators add in the use of electricity, Equiptment bear, among many other things ... A cake is not "just flour and sugar "(sorry, but thats really hard) ... depending on what flavor you want your child is half the cost there. I once made a chocolate cake and chocolate cake for someone and meringue "cost only" $ 25 .....( I need about 3 pounds of material and type of chocolate that I use cost $ 7.00 a pound) You pay for quaility ingredients (most probably) in height, their years expire and talent, and time ... some decorations for cakes can take all day to do and then a week to dry and assemble then .... If they are not prepared to allocate $ 100 for a cake so I suggest you ask your daughter what type, flavor, design, and what size cake you want, then try to do so you can see that more "flour and sugar, go to a cake. Or simply go in a local bakery and must make a "generic" Lower quality cake for your daughter ...
